Browser video compressor
Compress video online - free, private, no watermark
Reduce MP4, MOV, and WebM file size directly in your browser. Set an exact MB target or pick a quality preset - your video never leaves your device.
Drop a video here
Reduce video file size online. MP4, MOV, and WebM are processed locally in your browser.
Your video is processed in this browser and is not uploaded to this site.
Two ways to compress
Target an exact size
Type the MB limit you need - 8, 10, 25, 50 or anything custom - and the tool computes the right bitrate from your video's length. Most compressors only offer vague quality sliders.
Pick a quality preset
Choose Smaller, Balanced, or Better quality when you just want a lighter file without a strict cap. Balanced is the right default for sharing.
Compress for a specific need
Each page opens the same private compressor with settings and guidance tuned for that exact upload limit, platform, or file type.
For apps & platforms
Compress Video for Discord
Shrink game clips, screen recordings, and phone videos before sending them in Discord chats.
Compress Video for WhatsApp
Reduce phone videos before sending them through WhatsApp chats, groups, and status updates.
Compress Video for Email
Make a video small enough to attach or share cleanly through Gmail, Outlook, and other email tools.
Compress Video for GitHub
Create smaller screen recordings for issues, pull requests, bug reports, and README demos.
Compress Video for TikTok
Shrink clips before posting to TikTok for faster uploads and fewer failed posts, especially on mobile data.
Compress Video for Instagram
Make Reels, Stories, and feed videos lighter before uploading, so posts go out faster and fail less often.
Compress Video for Telegram
Telegram heavily compresses videos sent as media. Compress the file yourself, send it as a file, and keep control of the quality.
Compress Video for Slack
Share demos, bug recordings, and clips in Slack without eating your workspace's storage or making teammates wait on downloads.
Compress Video for Reddit
Prepare clips for subreddit posts that upload quickly and play smoothly, without pushing an oversized file through Reddit's encoder.
Compress Video for Twitter / X
Trim your video's size before posting to X so uploads finish fast and playback starts instantly for viewers.
Compress Video for Facebook
Lighten videos before posting to Facebook feeds, Reels, Stories, and groups so uploads finish faster and play smoothly.
Compress Video for Messenger
Messenger caps file attachments at 25MB. Compress your video below the limit so it sends the first time.
Compress Video for PowerPoint
Embedded videos are the number one reason decks balloon to hundreds of MB. Compress the clip first and keep your file easy to share.
To an exact size
Compress Video to 10MB
Make a video small enough for strict upload forms, Discord free limits, GitHub comments, and older forums. The compressor runs locally in your browser.
Compress Video to 25MB
Create a smaller video for email attachments, Messenger, and upload boxes that reject large files.
Compress Video to 50MB
A 50MB target is a practical balance for forms, school platforms, team tools, and sharing a cleaner version of longer clips.
Compress Video to 8MB
Hit strict 8MB caps still used by forums, upload forms, and older Discord limits. Everything runs locally in your browser.
Formats & use cases
Compress MP4 Online
Reduce the size of MP4 files while keeping the output easy to play on phones, browsers, and social platforms.
Compress MOV Files
Shrink large MOV files from iPhones, cameras, and editing apps into smaller MP4 files for sharing.
Compress a Screen Recording
Turn bulky screen recordings into smaller MP4 files that are easier to send, upload, and attach.
Compress 4K Video for iPhone
iPhone 4K clips can take 300MB or more per minute of footage. Shrink them into shareable MP4 files without the video ever leaving your device.
Reduce Video Size Online
Make videos smaller for uploading, sending, and saving space while keeping control of the file on your device.
Compress Video Without Watermark
Reduce video file size without branding the result. Your output stays clean and ready to share.
Compress Video Without Losing Quality
Shrink a video while keeping it visually indistinguishable from the original for most viewers. Best when quality matters more than hitting a size cap.
How it works
The tool uses ffmpeg.wasm, a browser build of FFmpeg, to encode your video locally on your own device.
1
Choose
Pick an MP4, MOV, or WebM from your device.
2
Tune
Type a target MB or choose a quality preset.
3

Save a compressed MP4 without a watermark.
Why compress video in your browser?
Private by design
Files are processed on your device with WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded, so there is nothing to store, leak, or delete.
No upload wait
Skip pushing a huge file to a server and pulling it back down. Compression starts the moment you pick a file.
Free local compression
No file-size paywall, no watermark, no account. Very large files are limited only by your browser and device memory.
Clean MP4 output
H.264 + AAC MP4 plays everywhere: phones, browsers, chat apps, email clients, and slide decks.
FAQ
Are videos uploaded to a server?
No. The compressor runs in your browser with WebAssembly, so your video stays on your device from start to finish.
Can I compress a video to an exact size in MB?
Yes. Enter a target in MB and the tool calculates the bitrate from your video's duration. Encoding is not perfectly exact, but the output lands close to the target - usually just under it.
Will compression reduce quality?
Usually some quality is traded for a smaller file. Use a larger target or the quality preset when detail matters most.
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, and WebM inputs are supported. The output is MP4 with H.264 video and AAC audio for maximum compatibility.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no hard limit, but very large files are constrained by your browser's memory. Multi-gigabyte 4K videos work best on a desktop computer.
Do I need an account? Is there a watermark?
No account, no watermark, no payment. The downloaded MP4 is clean and yours.
Why is compression slow for big files?
Your own device does the encoding, and WebAssembly is slower than a native app. Closing heavy tabs helps, and shorter or lower-resolution clips finish much faster.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, for smaller clips. Large 4K recordings can exceed mobile browser memory, so compress those on a desktop when possible.
